A variety of company and employee-led initiatives promote an inclusive work environment throughout the year. In 2006, many employees and managers were supported to attend the May 1st Immigration Walk Out. Staff engaged in planning talks to ensure guests' needs were met at the hotels. Managers worked with staff to get all things in the hotels taken care of before the teams headed out together. In cases where a replacement was not available, managers covered shifts so staff members could participate in the Immigration Walk Out. Following the Walk Out, employees were offered the opportunity to stay the night in the hotel, to avoid transportation congestion on their way home.
