Renovation Update: Ventana Inn and Spa is currently undergoing a $16 million “refreshment” program which will bring elegant amenities and contemporary design appointments to the classic coastal architecture established more than 30 years ago. During this renovation, Ventana will be closed to the public and overnight guests Monday through Wednesday until June 2008. The enhancement project at the property is being carefully coordinated to minimize disruption to guests. - Rebuidling of Pacific House's six suites that were destroyed in a fire in March 2007
- Restructuring 26 of the older guest rooms with open floor plans and expanded bathrooms, new furnishings and amenities.
- Restoring the Japanese Baths, refinishing and upgrading the pools.
- Enhancing the landscaping, adding new gardens and outdoor living areas for future wellness programs, teaching and experiential sessions.
- Renovation of the Coast House
- Reconfiguring of the Gallery to allow for small special events and off-season think-tank meetings.
- Replacement of select guest room decks, private spas, foundations and wood exteriors.
- Upgrading employee housing areas to improve the quality of life of our staff.
- Constructing a $3 million wastewater treatment plant.
- Replacing the majority of the Inn's 33 year-old infrastructure: fresh water systems, water lines, gas lines, tanks, etc.

Joie de Vivre Gives
Joie de Vivre Hotels is a grass roots organization that strives to have a positive impact on our community. Each of our hotels is dedicated to donating at a minimum $200 per guest room per year to organizations in their communities.
As an extension of Joie de Vivre Gives, each hotel participates in the You Can Make a Difference program launched in April of 2008. The primary objective is to engage our guests by giving them the option to add an additional $3 of their total bill for each night they stay with us. Guests are able to opt out of this program at check-out.
Ventana's philanthropic partner in the You Can Make a Difference prorgram is the Big Sur Health Center, whose mission is to provide comprehensive health care to all in Big Sur regardless of ability to pay. Ventana also partners with the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade who have providing structure fire protection since 1974.
