White Swan Inn The Experience Union Square, San Francisco Hotel
Bed & Breakfast lovers flock to this famed small inn not far from Union Square, Nob Hill, and Chinatown. With a strong English flavor - including all kinds of British collectibles - you'll swear you've landed in London.
One of the favorite pastimes of guests is to linger after the abundant homemade gourmet breakfast in the living room or parlour (both of which have fireplaces) reading a book, leisurely sharing stories with other guests about their travels around town, or enjoying a complimentary glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres served each evening. Each guest room has its own fireplace and a quaint elegance that is rarely found in modern boutique hotels.
Here are a few suggestions to enhance your experience while staying with us.
In San Francisco:
At the top of Nob Hill, this majestic church has heavenly stained glass windows, magnificent architecture facing onto the park, and a Chartres-inspired labyrinth for people to walk through.
There are many places to have high tea in town (two of the most beautiful are the Neiman-Marcus Rotunda, the Sheraton Palace Belle Epoque room), but no place is swankier than the Ritz.
The original museum was damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, but what has taken its place is one of the City’s coolest new modern pieces of architecture. Make time to have an organic bite to eat in the cafe and stroll the sculpture gardens.
Evocative of a sultry South Pacific bungalow, this French-Vietnamese restaurant has both great atmosphere and great food on an atmospheric alley near Union Square.
