Share the Joy
San Francisco, November 27, 2006 - Beginning today, Joie de Vivre (JdV) Hospitality, California's largest boutique hotelier, will commence a two-month, grass-roots distribution of 5,000 'Share the Joy' tokens to good citizens in the community as well as individuals who truly practice random acts of kindness.
Each token, printed with a unique number, can be redeemed for surprises such as spa treatments, hotel rooms, restaurant discounts and entries into a grand prize drawing for a 2007 California getaway. In true spirit of the concept, recipients are then encouraged to 'pay it forward' to one additional person as a reward for a good deed done, spreading the joy 10,000 times over.
Putting a modern twist on this classic tradition of passing along good tidings, JdV Hospitality has created a special website to allow for unique registration, prize redemption and pay-it-forward inspiration.
Joie de Vivre Hospitality is proud to partner with Cingular Wireless and Energy 92.7 in hosting a kick-off event at Hotel Vitale. This event will be a culmination of a year-long promotion produced by both Cingular and Energy 92.7 where weekly 'good citizens' have been chosen.
All 50 individuals will be honored and recognized for their good deeds at this celebratory event and will receive the first 50 of the 5,000 Joie de Vivre 'Joy Tokens.'
"Considering the pace of today's digital age, sometimes it's the slowest form of communication that causes the biggest ripple," said JdV CEO Chip Conley. "The impact of personal interaction and recognition with a token of appreciation is most authentic . . . and in a time when avatars, email and voicemail rule, it's that authenticity that sparks a true holiday spirit."
Based in San Francisco, Joie de Vivre Hospitality (www.jdvhotels.com) is a creative collection of lifestyle businesses. As the Bay area's most prolific hotel operator, the Joie de Vivre portfolio encompasses 40 hospitality businesses throughout California, including 30 boutique hotels with more than 2,800 guestrooms. The company also owns and operates San Francisco's largest day spa, the Kabuki Springs & Spa. Each property celebrates the San Francisco Bay Area through a unique visual style, uncompromising design principles, one-of-a-kind amenities and personalized service.
