California Lodging Industry Association Awards Its Highest Hospitality Honors to Joie de Vivre
Both Awards to Recognize the CEO and Hotelier
San Francisco, September 15, 2008 - For its upcoming awards ceremony this month, California Lodging Industry Association (CLIA) recently announced it will recognize Joie de Vivre and its CEO and founder, Chip Conley with its 2008 Outstanding Lodging Property and Chairman's Awards, respectively.
The company and its CEO are thrilled with the announcement. "It is such an honor for our crazy, creative company to be given CLIA's Chairman's Award and to, at the same time, win the Outstanding Lodging Property Award," says Chip Conley. "I hope that Joie de Vivre has been an innovative role model for those in our industry as we've grown to become the California's largest independent hotelier. We appreciate all the support we've had along the way from the team at CLIA and from our colleagues throughout California's lodging industry."
The annual Excellence in Lodging & Hospitality Awards honor lodging property owners of CLIA member properties and those involved in making travel experiences a delightful one. Properties and/or owners receive awards in four different categories. Specifically speaking, awards are given for Outstanding Lodging Property/Owner, Chairman's Award, Outstanding Lodging Staff and Public Official of the Year. In unprecedented fashion, CLIA will, for the first time, give their two most prominent awards (Outstanding Lodging Property and Chairman's) to the same company. The 2008 Outstanding Lodging Property Award celebrates Joie de Vivre's insurmountable successes in community service efforts, design vision, employee relations/staff development, sales and marketing and visitor/guest relations. Along with this award, Joie de Vivre's CEO and founder, Chip Conley, will also be given the Chairman's Award at the ceremony. CLIA is honoring Chip's unparalleled vision and innovation, his commitment to sharing his knowledge and insight with the industry and for the success he has achieved with Joie de Vivre, as its founder.
The "Evening of Excellence" Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony will take place at the Hilton San Jose on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008. During that time, Laurenne Douglas, CLIA Board Chair will present Chip Conley with the Chairman's Award and Rick Lawrance, CLIA President and CEO will present Joie de Vivre with the Outstanding Lodging Property/Owner Award.
